Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
What is a high-risk pregnancy?
Women who have serious medical problems such as diabetes, hypertension, heart problems or known fetal abnormalities require the care of a high-risk obstetrician. Aside from physical conditions, non-medical situations such as substance use or psychosocial problems may also affect a woman’s pregnancy. Getting pregnant at an older age (35 years+) does not make you a high-risk patient if you are in good health.
Is it safe for me to undergo dental work?
Yes, it is safe for women to get dental treatments done during pregnancy. In case your dentist needs to take x-rays, ensure that your abdomen is properly covered. In regards to medications, it’s best to inform your dentist about it so he’ll know whether or not to delay a prescription.
Can I exercise?
Before starting with any exercise programs in Dubai, consult with your gynecologist to ensure that you do not have any obstetric or health conditions. You may also ask about any specific physical activity that interests you. Your obstetrician and gynecologist can recommend an exercise routine that is suitable for you.
How frequent are my appointments?
The following is a recommended appointment schedule for uncomplicated pregnancy;
Monthly: from the beginning of your pregnancy through 28 weeks
Every 2 - 3 weeks: from 28-36 weeks pregnant
Weekly: from 36 weeks until delivery
You may schedule more than one appointment here at our gynecology clinic in American Excellence Medical Center.
Will I need genetic testing?
It’s entirely up to you if you want to undergo a prenatal diagnostic testing. Your obstetrician will assist you with testing in Dubai, if any, is most suitable for your needs.
